A DAY AT THE FARM HOUSE

4th of March 2023 was a Saturday and me and my wife were just planning what to do for the day when Mr.Nilesh Rajput, our neighbour paid us a surprise visit in the morning hours to enquire if we would like to visit his farm house at Divad village, in Maval Taluka about 25 kms from Pune.

It was indeed unexpected surprise and we willingly said yes as this would provide an opportunity for us to be with nature. Mr.Nilesh, his wife Aarti and son Swaraj and the two of us started from Pune at 10.30 am on his vehicle Harrier, had our breakfast on the way at a roadside restaurant called “Khsanbhar Vishranti”. We had misal which was very tasty. Thereafter we proceeded to the farm house and reached there around 11.30am.

It is an area of 1 acre with a small house and trees all around. There is a water stream next to the property. We spent some time tending and in watering the plants and trees. We also played a game of Uno Flip.

With background music played on “Legends” player, and the quiet atmosphere of the surrounding, had a relaxing effect on us. We had our lunch consisting of Malabar Spinach sambar, cabbage greenpeas vegetable, chapatis and kichdi. Aarti prepared the kichdi at the farm house on a stand alone stove and cooker. We sat under the trees and had our lunch. Thereafter we slept on a mat under the trees.

Having Lunch

With a cool breeze blowing, we were instantly snoring to glory. It was about 45 minutes sleep. Very refreshing.

The well water in the farm was clear and nourishing. We picked up fruits like chickoos and lemon from the trees in the farm and also drumsticks from the plant in the property.

After spending some more time and watching the sunset on the mountains in the background, we started back for Pune at 6.30pm and had our dinner on the way at Shivansh Restaurant and reached back home for the night.

Thank you Nilesh and family for an unexpected and pleasant outing.
