TRANQUIL BEACH RESORT, HARIHARESHWAR

About 180 kms away from Mumbai and 172 kms from Pune, lies the Harihareshwar beach Raigad district of Konkan. It has a 16th century Shiva temple which is frequented by a lot of devotees and tourists.

Historically, Hari Hareshwar was the family deity of the Peshwas having an important place in Maratha history. It is also popularly known as “Devgad” i.e., House of God. Harihareshwar has a long beach extending from the town to Dive agar.

By Road:

From Mumbai :

By Road : Drive from Mumbai via Panvel, Pen and take a right turn at Mangaon and drive down to Harihareshwar. It is a 5 hour drive. You can also travel by Bus or taxi.

From Pune :

By Road : Drive from Pune via Tamhini, Pen and take a right turn at Mangaon and drive down to Harihareshwar. It is a 5 hour drive. You can also travel by Bus or taxi.

By Train : Mangaon would be the nearest railway station. From Mangaon you can take a bus or taxi.

By Air: Nearest airport is either Mumbai or Pune.

Harihareshwar has two main resorts i.e., MTDC Resort at Harihareshwar town and the second is Tranquil Beach Resort, Agar Road, Near Ganpati Mandir. This resort is slightly away from the main road but right next to the sea.

I visited the Tranquil Beach resort from 10th to 12th December, 2021. The resort has four types of accommodation viz.,Dormitory, Delux Chalets, Executive Chalets and Presidential chalets. I stayed at one of the Presidential chalets which is a wooden room with attached toilet, bath and a verandah. Unlike the Delux or Executive chalets, Presidential chalets have a backyard and a direct view of the sea.

The resort has direct access to the sea with hardly any crowd on the beach. This is the best place to chill out both in the mornings and in the evenings. You can get into the sea water with family and friends.

The resort has facility of cycling, indoor games, badminton, cricket etc. It does not have a swimming pool as it is right next to the sea. Private parties can also be organized with the resort.

You can visit the Shiva Temple, do some shopping for small items at Harihareshwar town, enjoy some water sport at the beach at Harihareshwar town. You can also visit Diveagar Beach.
