U TROPICANA RESORT, ALIBAUG

Located at 110 kms from Mumbai and 124 Kms from Pune city is U Tropicana Resort, a four star resort at Alibaug. 1 km away from the main Alibaug-Chondi-Mandhwa road, this resort houses rooms on the ground and 1st floor of u shaped structure with a swimming pool in between. This is an ideal location for a couple or families to relax.

The entry to the resort is marked by barren land at a stretch of 1 kms from the main road. Once inside the resort, you will feel the greenary of the lawns and trees.

The tariff for the accommodation includes breakfast. Lunch and dinner are on a la carte basis. There is no buffet service. The restaurant is located on the second floor with no lift arrangement. The service at the restaurant is slow. If you are hungry, better try some food outside. Its a good spot for couples or families to just relax.  

By Road:

From Mumbai :

via Panvel take a NH 17 (Mumbai-Goa highway) and travel upto Vadkal Naka (past Pen) and take the straight road which goes to Alibaug (road to the left at Vadkal Naka goes to Goa). Drive straight past mapgaon and you will reach Alibaug.  U Tropicana Resort is located about 8 kilometers from Alibaug Bus stand and Mahavir Chowk.  This is not a beach resort but is located in the interior on the right side of the road .

From Pune : 

via Khopoli (exit from Expressway through diversion to Khopoli), take the first left turn at Khopoli which goes to Pen (30 kms). At Pen bypass take left turn to NH 17 and travel upto Vadkal Naka. Take the straight road to Alibaug. Total distance is 124 kms. by road.

By Train:

Nearest Railway station - Pen (36kms).

By Air:

Nearest Airport : Mumbai. (105 kms)

Rooms at the resort

Rooms in the resort are quite spacious and well maintained.

The rooms are provided with large TV set but it requires reset every time you switch it off. This, they say, is on account of switching between genset power and main power. The resort provides free wi-fi through a password which will be handed over to you in a slip of paper. The wi-fi signal drops quite frequently which is quite frustrating.

There is no provision for stay of drivers in or near the resort, in case you are using the services of a driver.

Sai Inn Resort, Alibaug

Radisson Blu is the five star resort in Alibaug. On the Alibaug-Chondi-Mandhwa main road, there is another resort by name "Sai Inn" which is surrounded by greenary inside the resort. Further towards Kihim, there is Paradise Resort.

The resort has a large swimming pool located at the center of the resort building. The rooms on the ground floor are accessible from the swimming pool. There are pool side chairs and sit outs provided near the pool.

The resort provides bicycles for children and adults for cycling inside the resort premises.

There is a small library on the first floor and a pool table on the ground floor from which the swimming pool can be seen.

There is a walking track inside the resort for a leisurely walk.

Kihim beach is the nearest beach located at about 5 kms away from the resort and Varsoli beach is located at a distance of 10 kms. Both these beaches have black rocks inside the water which are distinctly visible during low tide. Varsoli beach is quite long and suitable for sports activities in groups. Kihim beach is popular with travellers for sports activities and eating at the snack stalls. The stalls provide one of the best egg omlette and egg burzy and masala tea. Watching sunset is another experience at Kihim beach.
